Section 06:
OVERSEEING AND PLANNING, Advanced Level 3d
06 3d: Annually evaluate, improve and extend all ministries
Meet with your coworkers at least once a year to prayerfully review all ministry areas and objectives.
- Eliminate from long range plans those activities which have not moved the church toward its God-given objectives (help the people involved to transition into more effective ministries).
- Strengthn ministries that build loving relationships, to which Jesus gave highest priority.
- Include inter-church and mission activities, as well as ministries of compassion to the needy in the community outside of the church..
*Find in Acts 2:37-47 several activities of the first church which, in obedience to some specific command of Christ, furnish foundations for a church's ministry.
Do not confuse the outward form the activities took for the underlying principle embodied in Jesus' command, For example, the fellowship in home groups and sharing things in common gave external form to Jesus' command to love one another.

Compare between outcomes and the goals that were set last year.
- Assemble all the planning documents and accounting figures.
- Responsible persons report the comparisons that correspond to 'smart' goals. Smart goals are:
Specific: Ask about one outcome at a time.
Measurable: Indicate precisely how much or how many.
Achievable: Precisely what happened?
Relevant: How did the outcome relate to an agreed ministry purpose?
Timely: Starting when? Until when? How often? At what frequency?
- The best evaluations are conducted by representatives of every group that hoped to benefit from the ministry. If a ministry was intended to help non-believers, then ask some of these should tell their experiences and impressions of the outcomes.
- The evaluation exercise is a time to make decisions on what to do next. It is not intended to either extol, condemn nor exonerate anyone. If that is needed, it should be done between workers and supervisors during their regular sessions.
