07 1c: Pray for the sick and demon oppressed

Visit the sick and oppressed to encourage and pray for them.

Pray also for such persons in small groups.

When confronted with demonic presence, pray boldly in the name of Jesus for its departure.

*Find in Luke 10:8-9 what Jesus commissioned His disciples to do.

*Find in John 9 why the man was born blind and why they expelled him from the synagogue.

*Find in Mark 5:1-20 and Matthew 17:14-21 the authority Jesus has over demons.

Find in Colossians 2:13-15 the basis for the total defeat of demonic powers.

Find in James 5:13-18 guidelines for dealing with the sick.

*Find in Acts 16:16-18 what Paul did to cast out the demon.

If your ministry population practices supernatural healing or exorcisms:

Read the literature on their beliefs and practices.
If you have the opportunity and feel free in your conscience, then attend a local healing or exorcism ceremony. Use this material to show the contrast with Jesus' healing and deliverance ministry. Jesus' healing ministries contrast with pagan and religious practices at several points. Jesus did the following:

charged no money,
demanded no sacrifices,
acted in plain view of his critics,
allowed no spectacles,
worked swiftly,
used no mystical symbols, objects or formulas,
spoke in plain speech,
invoked no supernatural powers but his own, in union with the Father,
proclaimed sins forgiven,
released people immediately to return home.
Jesus' followers do the same, but invoke the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Lead your people in praying for healing and freedom in Jesus' name.
