If you work with people who lack leaders, you or you’re your colleagues probably need to prepare curriculum for training pastors.

• Rather than starting from scratch, take advantage of the good training programs and handbooks that already exist.
• Do not simply translate books. Digest them to glean the key, time tested truths and principle. Then write from scratch, while you are thinking consciously about the people the pastors will shepherd.

Find in Ecclesiastes 12:12 a caution that is particularly apt for more educated missionaries and Christian workers.

Do not waste time writing what is already written. You may need simply to adapt it – tweak it a bit – for a different culture or set of needs.

Find out from bookshops and distributors what is available in the language and level of the men and women you are training.

• If you write training materials, have a native speaker correct your writing. Be sure they do not use big words.
• Alternatively, make a tape recording of good native preachers and teachers talking on the subjects, and transcribe their messages as booklets or chapters in a book.
