Help older people to disciple and have fellowship with younger.

• Older youth can disciple younger children with happy results.

• The desire for attention from the next age group is a normal, universal desire. Yet much of our discipling fails to take advantage of it.
• The breakdown of relationships between different age groups is a major cause of misery in Western society.

Plan social events that bring together people of all ages. Get them together for planning these activities.

Find in John 13:34-34 a basic guideline for cultivating loving relationships between all ages, as opposed to the traditional segregation by age which characterizes so much of our Christian education and social life.

If you work cross-culturally, then ask culturally sensitive persons to explain to you the ideal behavior between age groups.

• In some societies, everyone born between certain years form an age cohort that has a special identity and fixed obligations towards other age cohorts.
• While the Bible has something to say to such societies, it may be dangerous for you to impose a Western or Eastern ideal where it would cause unnecessary offense.
