Section 09:
STEWARDSHIP, Advanced Level 3c
11 3c: Share facilities with other congregations to cut costs
Use restraint in using God's money for physical materials.
- In God's sight, a church is people, not bricks and mortar.
- Many evangelical churches have gotten a start in a Seventh Day Adventist church building, also in rented auditoriums in public schools, theaters, Granges, restaurants, small town court houses and other community organizations.
- Many minority ethnic group churches are incubated in an older church's facilities, sometimes on a weekday night, or Sunday afternoon.
- The house church option is being seen more and more as a viable alternative to the expensive tradition of growing only by addition, not by reproduction of daughter churches and cells.
Find in Galatians 3:28 a principle to bear in mind as we consider sharing facilities with people of another race or language.
Find what ethnic ministries may be in need of a meeting place.
- Ask other gospel workers about this. Approach their leaders with an offer they can afford.
- The good will and spiritual unity that result will please the Lord and show the world what love you have one for another.
